Reflux success? A "pie" for the American authorities?
American AI chip giant Nvidia announced on the 14th that Nvidia is working with a group of suppliers to jointly design and build factories that will produce Nvidia AI supercomputers entirely in the United States for the first time.
Nvidia disclosed that it has opened "more than one million square feet" of production space in Arizona for Blackwell chip manufacturing testing, and is working with partners to build a production line for artificial intelligence supercomputers in Texas.
As the most important part of the entire industry chain, the Blackwell chip body has started production at TSMC's wafer fab in Phoenix. At the same time, Nvidia is also building supercomputer manufacturing facilities in Houston (with Foxconn) and Dallas (with Wistron), both of which are expected to ramp up production over the next 12-15 months.
The supply chain for AI chips and supercomputers is highly complex and requires the most advanced manufacturing, packaging, assembly and testing technology. Nvidia will partner with Amkor Technology and SPIL to conduct packaging and testing operations in Arizona.
Looking ahead, Nvidia highlighted plans to work with these partners to produce "up to $500 billion" of AI infrastructure in the United States over the next four years, which is expected to create "hundreds of thousands" of jobs.
On the above statement, the industry evaluated it as a "pie" to the U.S. authorities.
"For the first time, the 'engine' of the world's AI infrastructure is being manufactured in the United States," said Jen-Hsun Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia. "Adding capacity in the United States will help us better meet the exploding demand for AI chips and supercomputers, while strengthening our supply chain and increasing resilience."
There is no doubt that the "risk" here refers to the tariff measures of the Trump administration in the United States.
According to Caixin News Agency previously reported that in early April this year, Huang Renxun visited Marago Manor and successfully persuaded Trump to suspend the expansion of restrictions on the export of "special version" H20 chips to China, it is said that Huang Renxun gave the condition is to invest in the construction of AI data center industry chain in the United States.
But in fact, compared with the mature industrial chain in Asia, "the production of advanced chips in the United States" also means that the cost will be out of control. TSMC founder Richard Chang has said that the cost of setting up a wafer fab in Arizona is expected to be at least 50% higher than in Taiwan, and he believes that the United States wants to copy China's Taiwan semiconductor industry chain is impossible, and will eventually be a vain effort.
